Learning Objectives: • Properties and requirements for Cloud software • Building blocks for Cloud software • The benefits and challenges of geo-distributed computations Required Materials: • Internet connection (DSL, LAN, or cable connection desirable) • Adobe Acrobat PDF reader (download for free at Adobe.com) • Access to Azure credits for workshops: Workshop #1 Student chooses the service Workshop #2 App services (App Services: AWS Elastic Beanstalk – possible substitution to Azure resources) Workshop #3 HDInsight Spark (HDInsight Spark: Local Apache Spark or Amazon EMR Spark – possible substitution to Azure resources) Workshop #4 Apache Storm (Local Apache Storm or deploy Apache Storm in Amazon – possible substitution to Azure resources) Azure EventHub (a stretch, students can use Locally Apache Kafka or Apache Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis – possible substitution to Azure resources) Technical Requirements: Access to course content online |
