Learning Objectives: • Statistical analysis to model, predict, and forecast trends • How to build Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) scripts in Excel to automate tedious manual processes • Realworld data sources to showcase social, financial, and political phenomena • How to create Python-based scripts to automate the cleanup, restructuring, and rendering of large, heterogeneous datasets • RESTful APIs using Python Requests and JSON parsing techniques • How to create in-depth graphs, charts, and tables utilizing a wide-variety of data-driven programming languages and libraries • Geographic data to create visually exciting, interactive, and informative maps • Custom interactive data visualizations using D3.js and other JavaScript libraries Required Materials: Laptop w/ WiFi with 8 gs ram and dual processor (64 bit, no 32 bit) Microsoft Excel version 2016 or later. Technical Requirements: Access to Github / Gitlab repository for classroom content and other related materials. Access to Slack application for communication and messenger tool. |
