Learning Objectives: Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the physical, technological, process and safety considerations of warehouse/distribution operations; Explain facility configuration considerations, representative storage and handling techniques, performance metrics, customer service considerations, and the role of distribution operations in different industries; Discuss picking and shipping processes and material handling equipment; Describe the key operations that take place within a warehouse and how they relate to each other; Discuss the different warehouse operating/ownership models; Additionally, from the Common Core Concepts section students should be able to: Discuss the key components of supply chain management Draw a high-level supply chain network Describe the role of technology in supply chain management Discuss the importance of customer service in supply chain and how supply chain impacts customer relations Required Materials: Computer with speakers to access online content.
