Learning Objectives: Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to… Discuss a specific socio-cultural theory of learning and apply that theory to teaching and learning practices. Identify, explain and evaluate the principles and practices of communicative language teaching and learner-centered teaching. Articulate important and consistent findings with regard to second language acquisition in relation to speaking, listening, and vocabulary. Describe, analyze and develop a teacher-as-leader perspective. Propose new or modified teaching and learning practices that integrate the findings of second language acquisition theory with a socio-cultural theory of learning and teaching, a teacher-as-leader perspective, and the principles and practices of communicative and learner-centered teaching.
