ESL W600L - Academic Writing 1 (38) |
In this class, you will write complete, coherent paragraphs
and essays that reflect an American linear writing style
using adequate support from multiple sources and reflecting
different rhetorical and organizational programs. To this
end, there is a strong emphasis in this course on the
development of both paraphrasing and summarizing skills.
This course is designed to help you learn to write
effectively for essay tests as well as summary/response
essays. On the essay tests, you will have 50 minutes to
paraphrase and summarize so that you will be better
prepared for academic coursework.
